About the Artist
Kate Lauer is an Atlanta-based artist who works in the space between the real and the abstract. Her practice moves fluidly from bold, expressive abstractions to semi-realistic impressions of people, places, and objects — always connected by impressionist-inspired brushwork and color palettes that set the emotional tone first.
Working primarily in acrylics and mixed media, Lauer’s paintings carry the immediacy of memory fragments: vivid, imperfect, and alive. She often translates lived experiences, objects, and figures into moments of mood and atmosphere, using layered surfaces, mark-making, and playful experimentation to create works that feel both deeply personal and widely relatable.
Through color and gesture, Lauer’s pieces invite viewers to enter the in-between spaces of memory and imagination — places where reality blurs, emotion lingers, and stories take shape.
