Key Local Sugar Land TX / Katy TX Businesses: Why I’d Never Recommend Nabors Pools

How Ben Nabors and Nabors Pools cost my family hundreds in damages and wanted to silence me from sharing actual photos of their work online

I want to start by saying any hateful messages sent to them, false reviews, etc. would be against my wishes with this review. My intentions are simply to reflect my personal experiences, as they seem very counter to the reviews on google (but very similar to a friend in the area who also dropped their services earlier this year citing similar issues). We did have a second opinion by a more reputable source (Leslie Pools) to investigate the issues and verify we were right. Indeed, we were.

Main takeaways:

+ Very slow response for issues for when I’d try to have problems solved

+ The pitch is very different than execution — Ben Nabors pitched superior service with excellent workers and a cute small business attitude — instead it was clueless people playing phone tag so we could discuss issues from new hires who, I kid you not, didn’t realize our larger pool would need additional chlorine. Within a week, our pool turned green and took over a month to resume a sense of normalcy for algae

+ Noting issues was part of their package and instead our pool was met with negligance — we cosnsitently had to inform them of issues

+ Rapid overexpansion and new employees meant for weeks at a time our pool was unusable in the beginning of summertime because they didn’t understand chemicals and we were asked to have patience as they learned their jobs (after chasing them down with the issue to start)

+ Coming back from my father-in-law’s funeral we came back to an uncared for pool which their own evidence points to it being their fault — we had Leslies come out and they confirmed that is the most likely scenario and we had to pay hundreds to fix our pool out of pocket because they wouldn’t fix anything unless I put in writing they weren’t at fault — a bit slimy, no?

At this point I posted the results of their negligance to Instagram to actually receive a guaranteed response — otherwise it could have been a week and 5 more calls and an email. I showed what happened from their services and I woke up to calls, voicemail, email, direct messages, and texts. A bit of harassment after neglecting our pool while we had a funeral service out of state was the final straw.

They seemed stunned I wasn’t placated when they tried to make amends when they realized the evidence was stacked against them and would be shared — photos, videos, texts, emails, voicemails. Just look through the paper trail yourself.

They would fix things here and there if I would refuse to drop it. If I’d nag and bug and become a pest, suddenly I was worth the time. I had wanted to never speak to the pool company except for christmas cards and saying thanks when we pass by outside.

My husband is a veteran. I am chronically ill. To us this was a lifeline for ease but we were met with challenge after challenge. When our friend (who recommended them to us) said he’d dropped their services, we began to grimace because we’d been already considering the same.

After a couple weeks of begging them to fix the issues properly so we could reenter our pool safely (again, beginning of summer and it’s unusable), we finally thought we were all on the same page. They were trying — although we clearly weren’t there as a client-business relationship.

When they blamed the low water level on “someone walking by and turning off our hose” while we were on vacation — implying a stranger strolled into our backyard and changed our water then left AFTER their pool guy had done work — it was mindblowing and gaslighting at its highest. A backyard bandit did not ruin our pool, thanks for the wild theory though it was a good laugh after the anger faded.

But that does little to help the loss in our wallet from their mistakes. We paid for their services from late 2021 when it was still cold out in the hopes of having our first summer in our new house with our new pool. We wanted easy service that we’d all but forget existed and just be able to enjoy life. Instead we were drowning *pun intended* in handling Nabors pools repeated errors and the money to replace items that broke as a result of various issues.

If you want help, based on my experience Nabors Pools was way more painful than helpful. If you want ease, honestly buy a pool robot and take your water to Leslies once a week for a free consult on chemicals and extremely knowledgeable associates.

I’m open to more questions on my instagram about the bad experience with Nabors Pools from Katy, Texas. My instagram is a community built over the last 4 years who strongly trust my reviews. Most are good, some sadly are like this one and serve as a good representation of my very bad experiences. As I told Ben Nabors when we discussed him refusing to fix the pool’s broken parts from his crews negligance, this could have been a glowing review just as easily. It could have been me sharing all summer long how great it was. Sadly, not the case.

As the issues lasted months and were met with repeated gaslighting by the Nabors family and team, I felt compelled to share my story. We were out money we could have used for our new home, or for my medical bills. I truly hope this doesn’t happen to any other families trying to balance work and joy. The pool should just be joy! All my love to you all xx
